 1. Muscular and lean, the American English coonhound is built like an athlete. The breed's short coat may be one of following colors and patterns: redtick, bluetick, tri-coloring with ticking, red and white, and black and white. Ticking refers to the small spots of color on the breed's coat that resemble ticks.

2. The American English Coonhounds are also called the English Coonhound or Redtick Coonhound. It is a direct descendant of the English Foxhound. After the Foxhounds were brought to the United States by early settlers in the 1600s. Hunters used them to develop a new breed that had the size, stamina, and strength to hunt the fox.

3. Origins of American English Coohunds can be traced back to the 17th and 18th centuries when European settlers brought Foxhounds to the US. During that time, Foxhounds were named Virginia Hounds.

Lack of proper training can lead to aggressiveness and other dog behavior problems. This is due to their stubborn and confident personality. Establishing trust and dominance before training is important.

8. The male has a height of 56-69cm and the female has a height of 53-64cm. The male has the weight of 18-30kg and females have a weight of 18-30kg.

9. Standing as high as 26 inches at the shoulder, English are deep-chested, sweet-faced athletes beloved by sportsmen for their speed and endurance. Stretched tightly across the athletic frame is a medium-length coat of various patterns, some with ticking. The head is broad with a domed skull, with soft, low-hung ears and dark-brown eyes that glow with warmth and kindness.

10. The American English Coonhound is American by birth, English by ancestry. They’re one of six AKC coonhound breeds that frontiersmen devised to specialize on trailing and treeing North America’s perfect source of food, fat, and fur: the raccoon. It’s said that English are descended from English Foxhounds brought to America in the early 1800s.
